Wow…

Sunday, July 29th, 2007

It’s been a while since I posted lyrics to any songs, but I just downloaded Linkin Park’s latest album Minutes to Midnight. Hence, Hands Held High:

Turn my mic up louder, I got to say something
Lightweights steppin’ aside when we come in
Feel it in your chest, the syllables get pumping
People on the street then panic and start running
Words on loose leaf sheet, complete coming
I jump in my mind, I summon the rhyme I’m dumping
Healing the blind, I promise to let the sun in
Sick of the dark ways we march to the drumming
Jump when they tell us that they wanna see jumping
F*** that, I wanna see some fists pumping
List something, take back what’s yours
Say something that you know they might attack you for
‘Cause I’m sick of being treated like I had before
Like it’s stupid standing for what I’m standing for
Like this war’s really just a different brand of war
Like it doesn’t cater to rich and abandon poor
Like they understand you, in the back of their jet
When you can’t put gas in your tank, these f***ers
Are laughing their way to the bank, and cashing their check
Asking you to have the passion and have some respect
For a leader so nervous in an obvious way
Stuttering and mumbling for nightly news to replay
And the rest of the world watching at the end of the day
In the living room, laughing like, “What did he say?”

Amen
Amen
Amen
Amen
Amen

In my living room watching it, I am not laughing
‘Cause when it gets tense, I know what might happen
The world is cold, the bold men take action
Have to react to get blown into fractions
At 10 years old, it’s something to see
Another kid my age drugged under a Jeep
Taken and bound and found later under a tree
I wonder if he had thought ‘the next one could be me’
Do you see the soldiers that are out today?
They brush the dust from bulletproof vests away
It’s ironic, at times like this you’d pray
But a bomb blew the mosque up yesterday
There’s bombs on the buses, bikes, roads
Inside your market, your shops, and your clothes My dad, he’s got a lot of fear, I know
But enough pride inside not to let that show
My brother had a book he would hold with pride
A little red cover with a broken spine on the back
He hand-wrote a quote inside,
“When the rich wage war, it’s the poor who die”
Meanwhile, the leader just talks away
Stuttering and mumbling for nightly news to replay
The rest of the world watching at the end of the day
Both scared and angry, like “What did he say?”

Amen
Amen
Amen
Amen
Amen

With hands held high into a sky so blue
As the ocean opens up to swallow you

If all you ever really do…

This will be my life. I can’t say I’m sad about it.

That’s something to be proud of
That’s a life you can hang your hat on
You don’t need to make a million
Just be thankful to be workin’
If you’re doing what you’re able
And putting food there on the table
And providing for the family that you love
That’s something to be proud of

And if all you ever really do is the best you can
Well, you did it man

Montgomery Gentry’s song, Something To Be Proud Of

I’d give you the lyrics for I Play Chicken With The Train, but I can’t seem to find them and I’m being lazy right now. Either way, take the time to listen to the whole song at Cowboy Troy’s site He’s definitely something different on the country music scene. It’s no surprise to me that he’s getting his start via Big & Rich. B & R are pretty different, too. :) My cell phone plays Save a Horse, Ride a Cowboy. :D

Aren’t I lovely

Real ~ Plumb

Look at me I’m twenty three
Beautiful a sight to see
Tonight

A little dress to draw the press
And I’ll be leaving
All the rest behind

Well be pleased girl
If this is what you wanted
The whole world is watching you take the stage
What will you say

Aren’t I lovely
And do you want me cause
I am hungry for something that will make me real
Can you see me and
Do you love me cause
I am desperately searching for something
Real

I close my eyes imagine time
Will not forget
My sacrifice

I numb the ache and decorate
My emptiness
Stand naked in the light

Well be pleased world
If this is what you wanted
This young girl is everything that you made
What will she say

Aren’t I lovely
And do you want me cause
I am hungry for something that will make me real
Can you see me and
Do you love me cause
I am desperately searching for something
Real

The world goes home
The lights go down
My lipstick fades
Away

And do you want me cause
I am hungry for something that will make me real
Can you see me and
Do you love me cause
I am desperately searching for something
Real
(repeats)

I must go out and buy the Sweet Home Alabama Soundtrack! I can’t get this song out of my head and end up singing it all day. LOL! :) It’s good. Of course, I like Avril, so I might just be biased. ;) (more…)
