Just so you know…

Sites that use Wordpress and don’t keep the links to it really bug me.  Is it really that difficult to include a simple text link giving others some idea of where to look for cool blogware?  This continues on with other things as well, like smilies, etc.  I just don’t understand why people don’t feel the need to give credit where it’s due.  Why is that?

sigh

It just bugs the heck out of me.

Need someone to donate gobs of money to?

And no, I don’t mean me.  You could, but there’s definitely people who need it more out there.  And one of those people is Mr. Chris Vamosi and his family.  After a terribly accident in October, this young man and his family are obviously struggling.

Three young children + one wife who has no job + one young man in for a long recover = a need for relief.

Read the story, send your prayers (or good vibes or whatever) and while you’re at it, consider donating to help with the financial strain.

Is Miley worth $250 a ticket?

Friday, November 9th, 2007

I’m not totally sure. Of course, I tend to gear myself towards doing this more frugally, and maybe that’s my problem. But seriously, is she worth that much for one concert? I’ll admit, she can sing. Seriously sing. I’d like to see where she goes once her voice matures. I worry that she’ll have the same issues that Leann Rimes had with transitioning into adult songs. But I digress. She’s in town tonight playing at the Jobing.com Arena, which is a good sized venue (and she’s expected to have 13k people there to see her tonight). But, honestly, I can’t think of one artist that I’d want to see for $250 bucks. Or more. Heck, I have a hard time putting down $50 for one concert. I know, I’m a cheapskate. There’s just other things I’d rather spend my money on.

I feel accomplished tonight!

I spent the evening working on an idea that just hit me. It’s typically how that works for me. I get an assignment and then have an incredibly tough time implementing it. And then I get this fantastic idea and just have to figure out how to get what’s in my head out.  That’s a tough gig!  :)  Anyway, I did the holiday invites for our company party this year.  Below is the fruit of my labors.  I’m pretty darn thrilled with the results, myself.  What do you think?  (Psst…  Clicking the image will make it larger and much cooler looking!)

A sudoku a day, makes the memory stay…

Wednesday, November 7th, 2007

I’ve noticed over time that my memory just isn’t what it used to be. There was a time when I could remember all the phone numbers of my friends by heart and now I have to whip out my phone or planner to confirm. Getting older sucks. So I’ve been looking into methods to help it out. J’s told me a ton of times that it’s good to work on the sudoku puzzles because they’re good for the memory and brain. It’s great brain work, I’ll admit. I even downloaded it on my Moto Q so that I could practice when I’m riding the bus or otherwise in a place where I don’t have access to a more traditional method. It’s not helped yet, or at least I haven’t noticed. But maybe it’s one of those things that just takes a while to really have a noticeable effect.

Want to know more about it? Check out Why Sudoku makes your brain hurt. Pretty interesting reading, I have to admit. Who knew a game phenomenon could be so good for you?
