A sudoku a day, makes the memory stay…

I’ve noticed over time that my memory just isn’t what it used to be. There was a time when I could remember all the phone numbers of my friends by heart and now I have to whip out my phone or planner to confirm. Getting older sucks. So I’ve been looking into methods to help it out. J’s told me a ton of times that it’s good to work on the sudoku puzzles because they’re good for the memory and brain. It’s great brain work, I’ll admit. I even downloaded it on my Moto Q so that I could practice when I’m riding the bus or otherwise in a place where I don’t have access to a more traditional method. It’s not helped yet, or at least I haven’t noticed. But maybe it’s one of those things that just takes a while to really have a noticeable effect.

Want to know more about it? Check out Why Sudoku makes your brain hurt. Pretty interesting reading, I have to admit. Who knew a game phenomenon could be so good for you?

I personally do crossword puzzles in a feeble attempt to keep my brain sharp, but I think they might be as much about random trivia stores than about actually intelligence or memory performance.

Another good thing: memorize poetry! If you like poetry. I do this; not only does it stretch the brain, but it impresses everyone around you when you randomly burst into poesy.
