Seriously. They completely sold out US Airways Arena and then some. It was a mad house downtown! No surprise though, it was The Police, after all. A coworker of mine got me the latest police cd, too. I was enthralled with all the awesome songs they put on it. There were a few songs I hadn’t really heard before, but I chalk that up to simply being young.
Anyway, it did have a lot of my favorite songs on it, like Every Breath You Take and Wrapped Around Your Finger. Just some completely classic songs there. I mean, come on, who hasn’t heard E.B.Y.T. and not fallen in love with it? It was definitely a staple of my puppy love teenage years.
And while I was listening to the compilation police cd, I was thinking of how the music would be perfect for a party. You know, great variety and such eclectic choices they made. They definitely weren’t afraid to try things out and be different. In the process, I think it helped them a lot. It kept them from being pidgin holed into a particular genre. Just think about it, how many different stations are they played on? Short of country stations… I don’t think they ever came out with anything country-like. And I think their willingness to be different helped other groups realize that it was okay to play the Rock n Roll and yet still do some Adult Contemporary in there.
Anyway, like I said, they sold out the one Phoenix show they did. I wished they had done more because everyone says they were amazing! I’m completely jealous!! I suppose I could try for this:

Win a New York fly-away to see The Police live.
I’ve never been to New York…
