You know, for all the flack…

Monday, June 4th, 2007

I get a lot of flack from certain people in my world for choosing to do PPP posts. However, I never pick ones that I can’t relate to and put my own spin on. I don’t get what the problem is, really. It’s funny though, no one thinks of complaining about the radio personalities who get paid to talk up some product in a friendly & personal way. Take for example Drewandgoose.com and Christparkersdogs.com. Both are from local radio guys. And both are for the same product. And really, there’s not a whole lot different between them. The biggest difference? The market that they’re aimed at. Both are DJs for separate local stations here. I listen to one of them when I’m at work and the other one when I’m at home. The music slightly overlaps but generally one station picks up people that are slightly older than me and the other one is aimed at people my age or younger.

I think this is what PPP is trying to aim for. It’s just another form of this kind of advertising and it’s the kind that appears to be working. There’s no gimmick really. People just want someone they can trust to give them an honest opinion. After that it lies in the hands of the blogger (or radio celeb) to make the right choices and not chat up every single thing that comes their way.

Oh, and for the record: This isn’t an opp. I suppose it could be, but it’s not. I just wanted to write my thoughts on the subject.
