J needs a new phone

Thursday, February 15th, 2007

His current one is driving both of us absolutely nuts! I don’t know how he’s using it honestly. :( It’s randomly shutting off, sometimes not receiving calls and/or text messages, and just plain isn’t working properly when he slides it open. Needless to say, we’re currently looking for new alternatives to his phone. Via PPP, I found this cool site called Wirefly that has just about every cell phone in existence and cell phone deals to go with them! I’ve been looking at the Alltel phones in particular because that’s the carrier we currently have.

Personally, I’m leaning towards the Razr, but I don’t think J’s going to go for that. The cool part about Wirefly is that he’ll be able to see all the cell phones for Alltel. Of course, if he decides he wants a phone that Alltel doesn’t have, he’ll be able to switch to a new carrier via Wirefly and they say it’s fairly painless. :) I could spend hours reading up on all the information that Wirefly has put together about the phones, call plans, carriers, etc. It truly is a wealth of knowledge at your finger tips!

If I was a new customer, I’d totally be digging the rebates they have. It’s got to be pretty awesome when you can get a phone from Wirefly and earn $50 on it (see Alltel page above for some examples!) And even more are free after the rebate. (Random side note: The currect #1 free phone is the Sony Ericsson W300i Walkman.) It’s for Cingular but it makes me wish I wasn’t already locked into a two year plan! And really, Alltel has some great service so I probably wouldn’t switch anyhow. ;)

Anyway, I did get to scout out some cool accessories while I was at it, via Wirefly’s Accessories Section. Oh, and for those that may be a bit worried about the whole rebate thing, Wirefly has set up Wirefly Rebates to help keep the process streamlined and on the straight & narrow. You have to love a company that is that helpful! Did I mention how much I love this site yet?

1st Chair!

Thursday, February 15th, 2007

My dear oldest son has made 1st Chair with his Tenor Sax! I pretty much forced him to do some sort of artsy activity this year in school and he chose to do band. We’ve had an extremely rough start with him not wanting to put the practice and learning time in. Seriously, by his December concert, he still wasn’t playing. But, there’s been a significant turn around and he’s not top of his section! He is even going to take his instrument home this weekend for the first time. I had to sign my life away yesterday for him but I think it’s worth it. I honestly hope that he continues playing music because it’s really good for you. I mean, doing something artsy or sporty is good for you and he’s not yet a sports type of guy.

:) I’m a proud mom, what can I say?
