I found what I really want for Christmas this year

Wednesday, December 12th, 2007

My Christmas list is fairly short this year, but at the top of that list is a fancy new bike & a snazzy new website for Wekeli Photography. Ok, the bike doesn’t have to be fancy. I just want one to get me to and from work. As for the website, I want the new Sadie template from Blu. The basic version is $100 and I want to add $100 for the client proofing area. Maybe the Santas in my world will get together and buy it for me! That would rock!

Buy Handmade this holiday season!

Thursday, November 29th, 2007

I can tell you from experience that people love to get handmade items.  Or at least they fake it when they tell me how much they appreciate it.  I can tell you that I simply adore it.  I wish for it.  As a matter of fact, I’m hoping that more of my friends and family will go that route this year.  Why?  Because there’s a bit more heart and soul in the handmade gift.  There’s something special tucked into it.  Something fantastic that defies description.  And if you aren’t a believer yet, peruse Etsy and enjoy the imagination & beauty that is there.  And maybe, just maybe, you can make the Pledge to Buy Handmade.  I don’t know if I can promise to buy everything handmade.  However, I know that I’ll be doing my usual and making gifts for my beloveds.  :)

Paying that little bit extra

Wednesday, November 28th, 2007

There’s a growing trend in medicine to pay a bit extra (relatively speaking) to have your doctor return to the care your ancestors used to get.  The services include at home visits, taking you personally to the emergency room, knowing your voice (by actually talking to you), keeping the client list small enough to spend more than five minutes with you, etc, etc.  That would so rock.  However, with all the expenses in this world, who on earth has the money to pay for extra medical ones?  They’re expensive enough as is!  It bites!  I know how it goes though.  Medical care is an industry and just like in the industry I work in, you have to pay a bit extra if you want great service.  Good service is not cheap and great service is worth a lot of money.  So, in a nutshell, I’m thrilled that it’s coming back into style for doctors to give that level of personal care.  I just wish I could afford to participate in it!  :)

I’m gonna say…

That I’m almost completely done with Tranquility.  This is a plus as it is a time sink.  :)  What do you y’all think?  I’ve never done a Joomla site before but I have to tell you that I am just loving that theme and I’m even considering putting Wekeli Photography into Joomla now that I’m more familiar with it.  Some of the cool attributes just rock my socks!  Anyone else out there use Joomla for anything?  I see the potential and would love to see what people have done with it.  ;)

On a side note…  I’ve been told that I need to try SEOing my website so that Google, etc can better validate it for search rankings.  What a job!  I’m not even remotely interested in doing it but I know I should.

You know what I hate?

Smart comment spammers. I’m lazy and I don’t want to have to deal with spam on my sites. Smart comment spammers suck.
