Here, have a dose of pain with that smile…

Wednesday, November 29th, 2006

I may or may not have mentioned this before but I’m getting work done on my mouth. I know that it’s really something that’s good for me in more ways than my vanity, but honestly, vanity is my biggest motivator. I think that’s how it is for most people and I can tell you that it’s definitely a huge reason in why I want to get back to a size 6. Who wants to be called fat and ugly?

Anyway, I get there this morning to have two crowns and three cavities filled and everything is going great until they take out the filling on one of my molars. When they did that, they found that one of my molars was a “dead tooth”. I wonder what that looks like? Anyway, needless to say that a root canal was then ordered and done there on the spot. It was cool to have a dentist that blocks out enough time for an appointment that he can actually do that. I was very grateful. :) I go back in two weeks to have the temporary crowns replaced with permanent ones and I’d like to make an appointment to use up the rest of this years benefits by having a couple of other cavities filled while I’m at it. We’ll have to see how that goes, though.

My jaw really hurts now, too. Four hours of having the damn thing open is a killer and then there’s just the pain. It’s sort of throbbing right now. Ugh. The things I do for vanity…

I so need to buy this for my office!!

Tuesday, November 28th, 2006

I work in an area of the office where my boss’s office is connected to our main office space and my office is connected to his and the warehouse. Recently, we started renovating and he got tired of the traffic going through his office to get to mine and decided that he’d close up one of his doors. I had no problem with this, but now everyone has to walk through the warehouse to get to us “in the back” as it were. Of course, this has caused some unrest with the natives as most of them have “auto pilot paths” that bring them to the newly closed off door and they have to reroute every time. :D My coworker that shares my office with me suggested that we take a photo of our boss’ office and then have that blown up with a fake “door” on it. Then we could attached it to the wall where the door used to be and see how many people tried to walk through it when they weren’t paying attention. It was an idea straight out of the Loony Toons cartoons!

For the most part, I figured it couldn’t be done, but then I found Wallhogs. It could make our plan a reality fairly quickly! And for the price, it’d be a steal as a prank! :D At least the plan is doable. I don’t know if the office would be very happy with me after it was done though. :) I can tell you that my boss would get a kick out of it, lol. :D

In non-work/prank related stuff, would this not be the coolest thing to do for a child’s room? I mean, say they simply adore construction trucks, you could take some photos of the big rigs and then have a Wallhog made up for it. Hang it up and Viola, instant Cool Parent status. And when I have a house, I might do something like this for the photo studio, with the prints being rotating images of scenery that I’ve taken. Think of them as really cool custom backgrounds for portraits. Edit: Okay, for the backgrounds, I’d have to attach them to something since the Wallhog only can be reattached five times, but I’m sure I can press J into service for creating me something to attach them to.

Would you believe that I’m too young?

Tuesday, November 28th, 2006

At the ripe age of 27 (three weeks til 28!), I am being told that I may be considered too young to adopt children. I know for a fact that we’re too young to adopt from China and it hurts to think that we should wait til we’re in our thirties. It’ll be like having a second family since Sam will be 14 and Zack will be 10 when I hit 30. Figure in the time it takes to go through an adoption from start to finish and Sam could very well be finishing up high school before we had a child. What do you do in a situation like that? I’ve seen with my younger sisters that having children too far apart makes them disconnected in ways that aren’t fixable. I can tell you that my sisters and I are definitely in different stages of life right now. Maybe it won’t be so much of a big deal when we’re adults, but currently, the age gap sucks. Guess I should get my mom’s opinion since she’s the oldest of 9 children and there is quite an age gap between her and the youngest one.

What would y’all do? Go for the whole adoption thing or just hang it up and wait for the grandchildren?

I don’t take enough vitamins and here’s why

Monday, November 27th, 2006

There is literally a pill for everything. Just check out N101 Nutrition and you’ll see it all there in plain sight. I’m pretty certain they have everything you could possibly think of taking! If you’re wondering why I don’t take enough vitamins and supplements, it’s not because I don’t want to. It’s because they are so darn expensive! N101 seems to have it together with the pricing, so I’m thinking of switching from my local shop to theirs. I figure if the price is better and the products are the same, why not give it a shot?

N101 also has this nifty Healthnotes Library that I could definitely get lost in for a while. Those that know me (hi J!), know that I love reading up on the latest homeopathy options out there. I’m certain that we medicate a little too often in this world when there are more natural ways of dealing with it.

On a side note, the other section I found interesting was the Pets Section. :) I want to buy Woodsy Woof Spray for Korben. He gets moving outside and just starts smelling like, well, a dog! I dig some of the other scents they offer, but I don’t think Korben is really a Foo-Foo kind of puppy. ;)

iTunes doesn’t like Windows CE

Monday, November 27th, 2006

I have Windows CE (aka Windows Mobile) on my phone and there is no way to use iTunes on it. That bites. I must’ve spend an spent two hours this evening reading up on the subject and no one has a solution. At this point, it’s just not possible to use iTunes on my phone. I have found the essential flaw in using iTunes for buying music: You can’t play the music without it or a lot of hassle. There is a program that will remove the encoding on the music so that it is playable, but I don’t think they have a version out that works with the latest iTunes and I have, of course, upgraded. Someone remind me that upgrading might not always be the best policy. :( Anyone have any ideas or solutions? I’m pretty much game for anything at this point. I just want to carry one device around that does it all instead of two or three.
