Bright Eyes

Monday, August 28th, 2006

What kills me is that I don’t know how all these people I see on Flickr manage to get shots that are just so eye popping! I’m talking about this, this, and this, for examples. Just amazing! I have a great photoshop book that shows me how this could be possible to do, but I’m betting that most of the credit is to the photographers in question. Still, the eyes take my breath away and I wanna do that!! If anyone has suggestions, I’m all ears (and eyes, too).

Zacky is being done up for surgery on Sept. 12th. It sucks. This should hopefully be the last one that he has done. Well, last major one. I don’t know if I believe it. I don’t think I really will until it’s done, healed, and proven to have worked. I feel like every surgery we go into is done with the thought of being “the last one”. And of course, it hasn’t been the last one yet. I’ll keep hoping and praying though.

I suppose I’m getting slightly ahead of myself here. From the beginning, here’s the short version. Zack complains around 5pm that his ear is hurting. At 5:30pm, J gives him some Children’s Advil and all is well. Zack falls asleep early and I go in there at around 9pm to give him his evening meds. When he lifts his head, we find blood all over. :( It was not a pretty little left ear. Needless to say I clean him up, do what we’ve done everytime this has happened previously and then put him back to bed. Friday morning I waited for the office to open, called, and found out that the doc is out of the office at 11am! So, they fit me, I rush my butt down to the school & then to the doc. It was not very much fun and then when Zack found out about another surgery, he was extremely uncooperative.

There are two ironic things about this happening. One, on Thursday I was at work joking about “eating bad fish” and calling in sick on Friday. One of my bosses told me that nothing had better happen or they’ll know that I faked it. I was only in the office from 6:45 to 9:15am. And two, on Thursday we got the notice that Zack was due for a follow up ear appt with his surgeon. What are the odds of these things happening together?

If I’m ever so old that I mistake a marijana plant for an “attractive weed” please kill me and put me out of my misery, okay? ;)

5 Ft Marijuana Plant
Deputy informs seniors their ‘attractive weed’ is marijuana
Associated Press Aug. 23, 2006 06:26 PM

PRESCOTT - A Yavapai County sheriff’s deputy patrolling a senior housing development outside Prescott Wednesday spotted a 5-foot-tall marijuana plant growing between two residents’ driveways.

Deputy Justin Dwyer got out, identified the plant and interviewed the residents, spokeswoman Susan Quayle said. They told the deputy they thought the plant was “just an attractive weed, and they had been watering it because it looked so nice.”

Quayle said it appeared the plant was growing wild and probably sprouted from a stray seed. Dwyer told the homeowners he would have to confiscate it and asked them to call deputies if more were found.

I’ve gone to the dark side…

And I kind of like it. Since buying my camera last week (yes, I did make the leap), I’ve decided that Flickr might not be as evil as I think it is. Mainly because there are lots of groups there and they aren’t afraid to tell you what they think of your work. I’m liking that. And the pats on the back, lol! I might not get either of the benefits I’m seeking but I’m going to bite the bullet, upload photos and eventually pluck down $25 to go Pro. Yep, it’s the dark side indeed. But I can control it. Just like Luke Skywalker did when he went to the dark side for a while, then came back to the light side but retained the knowledge of the dark side. Or something like that. I digress, but the point is the same. Btw, I love my camera. Now who’s going to hire me to help pay for it and the filters/lenses/etc. that I’ll want/need to buy? ;)

Special thanks for Mr. Park

For without him, I might have been driven insane by my CSS. I do not understand why it wasn’t working properly. Maybe after a time, I will be able to figure it out. In the meantime, I have a snazzy new theme that I need to work on to make complete, but it’s up! :) Opinions are welcome, and if it looks funky, please let me know. :) Thank you and Enjoy!

Currently everything looks pretty ugly past this first page. It’s 12:30 am though, and I want to go to bed, so I am just going to leave this stuff well enough alone. I’ll fix it on Sunday. Night!
