To ring or not to ring

Tuesday, April 25th, 2006

How dumb is the newest portrait of President Clinton? I mean, do you really have to ensure that your portrait won’t be showing your wedding ring? I find it no less ironic that he chose to hide his ring as he did when with his presidency portrait. You’ll notice in that painting that he had his left hand in his pocket. I get the fact that he still plays the field even though he’s married and has been forever. I suppose that’s what comes with being married that long to someone who is definitely in control on your relationship. You have to exert your control wherever you can. I wonder how Hillary truly feels about it, though. I know that personally, I would take it as an insult if my husband chose to hide his wedding ring and by association, his love and devotion to me and our marriage. Bill Clinton should be ashamed of himself.

Sucked into Discovery Health

Monday, April 24th, 2006

It’s like watching a train wreck. I want to see how medical science is improving and finding solutions for all these problems that humans have. It’s so amazing but a bit graphic. So I’m coughing and sneezing and turning away from the TV when something I just can’t watch starts showing. I know, I’m such a girl. I’m going to bed now.

Beady Goodness

Or something similar. I’m slowly getting all my hobbies to mesh into one big mess and I’m dragging everyone with me! ;) Really, it’s all Rachel’s fault, because I’ve been working on her baubles for her Los Lonely Boys. They’re turning out well, though the method definitely needs some work. It’s how it always goes, you get better with time. Or that’s the idea, anyhow.

I’ll post a picture of the projects tomorrow. I’m still icky, so I’m heading to bed. I am feeling a bit better, but dang, this is taking forever to get over. I hate when that happens. I would much prefer the “hit you harder than hard but over in 48 hours” kind of ick. Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend!

Wow, what a day

Thursday, April 20th, 2006

You ever have those days where you can’t figure out why you got out of bed in the first place? My day did not go as planned at all. It started with me dragging my butt out of bed and finding that the pants I wanted to wear had a busted seam. Then I went on to have my carpool arrive twenty minutes early and my makeup wasn’t even on yet. And I missed breakfast. And quite a few of my office mates felt that I was in a bad mood (not that being ill had anything to do with it, of course). And then because I’m fighting this sinus/allergy thing, somehow some of them still beliee that I’m contagious and wouldn’t let me sit next to them during lunch. Forget the fact that the air is recycled and you don’t have to be right next to someone to get their germs if they’re contagious. In the end, I hid out in the warehouse moving around old files and generally keeping to myself. You’d think the day would’ve been saved when I went home but naturally, my bad luck held and I was almost hit crossing the street. Good thing I was paying attention because he sure wasn’t. And so ends my rant about my day.

You know, other than having a sour day, my work was good. I got a lot of things done today, which is always refreshing. I also didn’t have a bad day with the Terrors even though Jayson had school tonight. The evening was good, I guess you could say. :)

And on a totally unrelated subject: Pop culture never ceases to surprise me. Tonight, I was watching Gilmore Girls and heard Lorelai say Frackin’! I had to rewind the DVR to ensure that I did indeed hear it correctly. As far as I know, Lorelai isn’t a Battlestar Galactica fan. I could be wrong, but wow, not what I expected to ever hear on a Dramedy like Gilmore Girls.

So I’m lying in bed

Wednesday, April 19th, 2006

and I’m thinking that I forgot to post yesterday. I went to bed at 7 pm. I’m fighting this horrible allergy induced sinus infection which has knocked me on my butt! It just hit me on Sunday night and when I got up on Monday, my throat was raw, my sinuses were puffed to max and I was running a fever. I ended up still going to work because I’m a sucker like that and in a bit of denial. I mean really, if you aren’t dying, shouldn’t you be at work? I’ve always felt that way. I wonder if going to school where they drill it into your head that you can’t miss a day has anything to do with it?

Anyway, I digressed for a minute there. :) I went in to Walgreen’s today and picked up some heavier duty antihistimines but I’m seriously considering getting back on my Zyrtec. I can’t help but wonder if that would have prevented this from hitting me so hard. That’s the tough part about taking a medication. On one hand it helps you out but on the other hand it seems to make you weaker when it comes to your natural defenses.

So I’m going to head to bed now. I’ve got it on my list to respond to comments that I haven’t responded to (because I’m a slacker) and I’ve got to tell y’all about my yearly review. Will definitely have to make that a private post, if you know what I mean. So tune in tomorrow!
