It’s always something

Sunday, April 30th, 2006

I thought I’d be happy with using Coppermine for my photos but now I’m not so sure. I love the way it works but I’m saddened because it’s a pain in the ass to make match the rest of my site. I haven’t really had a chance to be able to rip it down to the bare bones, I guess. I’ve thought of trying something like PixelPost but the thought of moving my photos into another system is not something I’m looking forward to since I originally moved them from MT to WP Photoblog to Coppermine. I guess I’ll keep looking for an alternative til I find what I think is perfect. And really, being as lazy as I am, I wouldn’t mind if the solution included an export/import tool to get my photos and their information easily. If anyone has any suggestions, I’m all ears, as it were. ;)

How was I ever sucked in?

Saturday, April 29th, 2006

Chat rooms used to be the coolest thing when I was younger. I was soooo into them at 17/18. What I saw in them, I’ll never know! I enjoy playing on Pogo but sometimes feel like I should just turn chat off. People start chatting about the most personal things in general chat and it’s like watching a Jerry Springer show. I don’t know if everyone’s really messed up or if it’s attention seeking or if it’s just that the “normal” people aren’t chatting. I think I’ll just this up for the whole hindsight is 20/20 thing and try to forget that I was ever sucked into Chat Room Soap Operas.

Flight 93

Friday, April 28th, 2006

I’m not sure if I’m ready to go see Flight 93. I’m hoping that Michael will go see it first so that I can get a feel for it. And my other problem with it is that it seems so soon. I know that it’s been almost 5 years but wow, we’re marketing it already? I saw an image in the Successories catalogue that showed the Twin Tower Beams of Light. I know it’s meant to be uplifting. And I know this movie is probably meant to be that way too. I’m just not sure I’m ready to relive that day and the aftermath. I have enough reminders as is, I couldn’t imagine putting an image on my wall/desk to look at constantly. I hope I’m not the only one.

Investment Tip

If you had purchased $1000.00 of Nortel three years ago, it would now be worth $49.00.

With Enron, you would have $16.50 left of the original $1000.00.

With WorldCom, you would have had less than $5.00 left.

But, if you had purchased $1000.00 worth of beer three years ago, drank all the beer, then turned in the cans for aluminum recycling refund you would have had $614.00.

Based on the above, the best current investment advice is to drink heavily and recycle!

It’s called the 401-Keg Plan.

There’s a funny thing about Time Management

Wednesday, April 26th, 2006

If you don’t practice it consistantly, you lose the battle. I don’t know if I’ve lost the war because I’m not willing to give up just yet. However I definitely have been slacking off recently and not getting things done that I should be getting done. Most of these are not a work related but they are goals that I’ve set for myself. I’ve been slowly making myself use the PDA/Phone that I spent so much money on. Otherwise what was the point in buying it? That’s a lot of money to spend on an overglorified phone.

Anyone have some suggestions on how to stay on track without getting distracted? And it’s soooo easy to get distracted! Especially on the computer. That has got to be my biggest time sucker, going off on tangents when I should be working on something.
