Shattered Sun

What are the odds of that?! There’s a deadbolt on two of the bathrooms at work. Sam went with me to work and then needed to go to the bathroom. I’m thinking “no problem, just remind him to lock the door because anyone could just walk in” and then he’d be right back. Except he wasn’t right back. So I go looking for him (it’d only been about 10 minutes) and find him still locked in the bathroom. So one of my coworkers tells me that the lock sticks! And no one thought that it would be good to fix that? So after much trying by most everyone, the head honcho of the office comes to find me and finds out what’s going on. How embarrassing! Needless to say, I was grateful when someone finally found a key to unlock it from the outside and all was well again. But now Sam is teasing me and my coworkers are telling me that I must really have it out for him since I drugged him and then locked him in the bathroom! I know they all mean it in jest and I took it that way, but you know, if someone overheard and didn’t know the backstory, that might get a little awkward.

To top all that off, Zacky went flying off the handle today at his after school program. I mean, really off. So far off, in fact, that they almost suspended him except that I talked the head of the program and the teacher who was working with Zacky to reconsider. If he does it again, he’s suspended though. I think it’s partially from all the stuff yesterday (he’s a really sensitive kid) and partially because we’re in the process of changing his meds this week. Poor kid. And worse, I had to punish him because he has to learn to take a step back and think about his actions. It might not cause him to stop them but maybe it’ll help him tone it down a bit.

I tell you, I love being a mother, but sometimes, I’m pretty certain I’m doing a sucky job at it.
