I find your lack of parenting appalling
Thursday, March 2nd, 2006So, the Terrors’ school nurse seems to think that I don’t know how to parent. I guess she’s used to those parents that don’t pay attention, don’t go to their child’s school, don’t take an active part in their child’s life. Well, guess what!? I DO! I hate getting phone calls from her telling me how to raise the Terrors. Sam has a cough right now. It’s not bad. It’s not even remotely close to bad. Instead, it started yesterday and it’s highly infrequent. I’m pretty certain that it’s the sudden change in temperature & weather that did it. She called me on my cell phone, J’s cell phone and then at work to ensure that I knew she felt I should take him to the doctor. It’s a freaking cough! He’s not running a fever and he’s not even hacking his head off. We went to Mulitcultural Night and met with his teacher. She starts laughing and relates how he almost forces himself to cough in class.
I wish that the nurse would recognize that some parents are still out there being parents. I happen to be part of that group and I’ll be damned if she joins the other naysayers that I’ve fought against since I gave birth at 16. Just because I don’t look like your “normal” parent, doesn’t mean I’m not. I might be young but I’m definitely not stupid.
Ugh! Some people just make me so aggravated!
