What a headache

My little brother is like the boy crying wolf. Or, rather, his “girlfriend” is a girl crying wolf. I should explain myself better, I think. My older brothers calls me on my cell phone at work at 3:45 pm today. This is not only not normal but very bad. He knows better than to call when I’m on the clock. So, I grab the phone and he’s crying. He got some strange call from a woman who said her name was Joyce (or Joy) and that my little brother has been in an accident and is in ICU in a coma. Talk about freaking a guy out! So, he can’t get a hold of my mother and so he calls me. I promise to find out what’s going on and get back to him. I get a hold of my mother and she had a similar message on her voicemail from my little brother’s girlfriend. I promise her to look into it also and promise to call as soon as I know anything.

Long story short, it was all a hoax OR everyone in Arizona dropped the ball and lost him. I called every city/town’s police, all county sheriffs around, Arizona DPS, and just about every hospital in Phoenix, Northern Arizona, and Laughlin area. Nothing. No run ins, no accidents, no John Doe’s, no Weikums. But somehow my little brother’s girlfriend can call and tell my older brother and mother. I think it was her that called my older brother because the number he was given and the number my mother was given are identical. I didn’t find this out til I had wasted 3 hours making a million phone calls.

Plus, turns out stories don’t jibe. I speak with the Girlfriend and she tells me that he was on his way to Laughlin and was in an accident near Wickenburg. She told my mother that he was in an accident in Phoenix and it was a Coca Cola truck that hit him. And after my mother calls the Phoenix police and they try to do a three way with the Girlfriend, she doesn’t answer. On top of that, the phone is now conviently sporting an “Invalid Number”. This means that the Girlfriend has shut the phone down with the cell phone company. Way too odd in my book.

Talk about a cruel trick to play on someone’s family though! Why would you do that to anyone? I’m not my little brother’s biggest fan. He burned that bridge a long time ago but that still would not stop me from looking for him. If nothing else, then it’s for the sake of my mother and older brother. But now, I don’t know. I’m so disappointed. Even my enemies would never dream of doing that to my family. That’s just horrible.

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool my twice, shame on me.

This comes on the heels of my little brother calling my older brother and mother to tell them that I was calling him and threatening him. Um, hello. I’m an adult. I have so many other things I would rather do with my time. For crying out loud, get a freaking life. I didn’t even know he was living in Phoenix! And after tonight, I wish I still didn’t know.

Interesting new development

Wow, it’s amazing what Xerox has been able to do! They just put in a patent on some new technology that allows them to “decode” the patterns in black & white copies and print them in color. Yes, that’s right. Is that not the coolest innovation? Just imagine the possibilities in both the office world and our personal lives. I work in an office that prints a lot of documents and receives a ton of faxes. If we could receive the faxes and decode them into color images, that would make life so much simpler. I’m sure this technology is going to cost an arm and a leg initially, but I’m willing to bet that it will take off quick.

What I need to do

I really have been working on the whole schedule and managing time better thing. It’s working pretty well, I think. Somethings I don’t have in my schedule yet that I’d like to fit in. One is crafting because I do love it and Christmas is coming very soon. Two is getting in touch with my friends more via email, websites, and phone calls. Three is actually going to the sites that I don’t have set up as a feed. I am so addicted to blog feeds! Oh man, do I ever love them. But I think I’m not making enough effort. I mean, I read more now but I don’t comment as much now. That’s disappointing. People love to see responses. And I haven’t been giving them. So I’m putting that stuff in my schedule. Maybe it’ll work this time around. :)

12 Songs

Looks like I wrote off Mr. Neil Diamond sooner than I should’ve. Hey, what can I say? He’s got great music but in recent years has become a Las Vegas live-in. I don’t partake in LV in particular, so that’s always pushed him away from my tastes. Most reviews of his most recent album, 12 Songs is sounding good. I can see this as something that I’d buy for my mother (who’s a die hard fan) and myself. Actually, I’d probably grab it off iTunes, but you get the idea. Who’d of thunk it?

What an idiot…

If you’re the brother of a wanted polygamist, the best thing to do would probably be to keep a low profile. This means you don’t get pulled over by police, have the driver charged with prostitution, and have $142k in envelopes labeled to “The Prophet”. Just further proof that Warren Jeffs’ brother Seth is not the brightest of the bunch.
