CSI and a nine year old

Thursday, March 31st, 2005

Sam loves watching CSI. He’s very intrigued by the science of the show but it raises many tough questions that I have to scour the internet for answers. Tonight’s episode included a rather graphic representation of a burn victim who had third degree burns all over her body. We got to talking and I told him about David Rothenberg, the young child burned by his father when I was only 5. I remember it so well because David was basically my age and I watched the movie on TV. When you think of becoming a parent, you don’t ever think of how you’re going to explain the unexplainable. How do you explain to your children that some parents not only try, but succeed at killing their children? Thankfully, David Rothenberg lived. And maybe his father will finally get more than the seven years he served for David’s disfigurement. While searching the net, I found this regarding a Charles Rothenberg’s possible life imprisonment.

The perfect proposal

Look, I guarantee there’ll be tough times. I guarantee that at some time, one or both of us is gonna want to get out of this thing. But I also guarantee that if I don’t ask you to be mine, I’ll regret it for the rest of my life, because I know, in my heart, you’re the only one for me.

Filched from Runaway Bride, which I am watching right now. Really, in this day and age of quicky marriages/divorces, it wouldn’t do us much harm to have this tattooed on our hearts when we get married. Marriage isn’t always easy. It’s not always roses and sweet nothings. I know I’ve said this before on my site. The more I think about it, the more I believe it. I think I’m going to say the above quote (paraphrased, of course) to Jayson when we renew our vows. We’ve decided to renew them on our 10 year anniversary. Yeah, it’s not much time, but by then we’ll only be 29! ;)

The best actress who’s name you don’t know

Wednesday, March 30th, 2005

That would be the lovely Sandra Oh. I loved her in Arli$$ on HBO. That’s where I first caught her. And I’ve seen her in numerous things since then and have loved her in every single one. She’s really an amazing actress. It’s too bad that she’s not some young stereotypical hollywood type or she’d completely be a big name actress. If you haven’t seen her recently, start watching Grey’s Anatomy or maybe catch her in Sideways. I promise, you won’t regret getting to know her name. :)

Maybe I should actually *learn* PHP

Tuesday, March 29th, 2005
I’ve bookmarked a few ideas for learning PHP and I think I might need to go to the library and grab some books related to it. I’d like to really learn PHP versus hacking away at what others have already written. It’s a daunting task though I’m told easy to do. My issue is just putting the time into it. If I really had the time, I’d take a course in it. That would be cool. Anyone know of any good PHP courses held online? I mean, if I could do it online, I might actually be able to do it. :)
