And no, I’m not talking about the election.
Zacky’s surgery today went well. His surgeon took almost the whole two hours cleaning the mess up and reconstructing the ear drum.
Good News: Zack now has an ear drum in his left ear. He also has no more cyst and everything icky has been removed.
Bad News: The damage was considerably worse in the month since the cat scan and much more was done than expected. Thus, we have to wait til Zack heals from this before putting the replacement middle ear bones in. This means that at this point, and for the next six months, Zack will have no hearing in his left ear. How much of this will remain permanent after the next surgery is uncertain.
He’s being a trooper though. He’s complaining about pain and has this big gauze pack on his head. It looks like one of those head injury scenes from the movies. He’s taken it off in his sleep twice now. I think he might have done a bit of damage to the stitches since the seam bled a bit, but I won’t know for certain til tomorrow. I’m hoping that I’m wrong. He’s trying though. I feel so much for him. I wish I was going through all these surgeries instead of him. Poor kid.

I hope little zacky gets better soon, it is a big pain having stuff done to you ear, one thing you can tell him maybe to perk him up is that he should be able to tell when it is going to rain as the place where the stitches are will get itchy…that i think is fun, well i thought so hehehehe..
With concerned parents like you im sure zack will be ok and his loss of hearing for now wont be to much of a hinderence for him.
Good

I’ll definitely keep Zacky in my prayers. Oh, and don’t talk about itches or it’ll make him itch and scratch the bandage off. Ok, now the side of my head itches. Nice going, Trish, lol.
