I don’t wanna lose a tooth!

Sunday, November 21st, 2004

My baby has finally lost his first tooth. Actually, it happened on Thrusday night while we were eating chinese food. He took a bite on his corn on the cob and found a hard piece. He told me that he was setting it on his napkin because he didn’t want to eat it. Distracted, I said, “OK”. Then he takes another bites and WOWZERS, there’s blood! My sweet OCD child freaks out and goes into a panic. If he wasn’t so serious about it all, I would have laughed uncontrollably. Needless to say, after showing him that what he thought was corn was really his first baby tooth coming out, he wasn’t too happy. He doesn’t want to lose his teeth.

On the plus side, the tooth fairy turned his tooth into a dollar and that made him very happy. Man, that tooth fairy is giving out a lot more money these days!

There are things wrong with having to spend almost $700 on plane tickets between Phoenix and Albuquerque. Of course, there’s something even worse about having to pay $464 per person for the same tickets! Family of four at $464 is not practical. Not that I’m too keen on spending $700 for the whole family either, but still. I wish that I could get Jayson’s mother to come out here for Christmas instead. Maybe I could con her into it if I flew her over here instead. It might be something to think about. I’m not sure if she’ll be up for it, but I’m definitely going to try.

There’s also the issue of carting presents to his mom’s house. And then carting them back home.

A new baby will be born very soon!

Yippee!

My older brother’s first son and my mother’s 4th grandchild is going to be born very, very soon.

I love it when new babies are born. There’s just something exciting about new life. :)

There’s this prick who keeps spamming my site. Instead of shutting comments off completely, I’ve instituted the lovely graphic security system that you’ve seen elsewhere. It’s simple and doesn’t take a lot of brains to work. I figure that if he’s using a program, he’ll be blocked. If he isn’t, I’m hoping that the IP banning I put in place does the job. If that doesn’t work, I’ve also banned usage of key words that he likes to put in his comments. Either this stuff works or I turn comment moderation on. And I really hate moderating comments. :P

If anyone has any further suggestions for keeping the losers of the internet at bay, I’m all ears.

And no, I’m not talking about the election.

Zacky’s surgery today went well. His surgeon took almost the whole two hours cleaning the mess up and reconstructing the ear drum.

Good News: Zack now has an ear drum in his left ear. He also has no more cyst and everything icky has been removed.

Bad News: The damage was considerably worse in the month since the cat scan and much more was done than expected. Thus, we have to wait til Zack heals from this before putting the replacement middle ear bones in. This means that at this point, and for the next six months, Zack will have no hearing in his left ear. How much of this will remain permanent after the next surgery is uncertain.

He’s being a trooper though. He’s complaining about pain and has this big gauze pack on his head. It looks like one of those head injury scenes from the movies. He’s taken it off in his sleep twice now. I think he might have done a bit of damage to the stitches since the seam bled a bit, but I won’t know for certain til tomorrow. I’m hoping that I’m wrong. He’s trying though. I feel so much for him. I wish I was going through all these surgeries instead of him. Poor kid.
