Well Being

Thursday, November 27th, 2003

I could start this post with a “Woe is me!” sort of title, but it doesn’t really fit. ;) I am going to level with many of my family and friends who read this journal, because I think it’s fair for them to know what’s going on with me. First off, I don’t have the flu as we thought. After running a wonderful fever for 5 days, talked to my doctor and found out that I actually have Sinusitis. I’ve always had sinus issues, allergies and the like. As anyone with allergies will tell you, it’s a case of grinning and bearing it. I usually just take Sudafed Sinus Headache, since it does the job but Carol (my doc) insists that I start taking my Zyrtec every day now. I guess my Dermagraphism was just the beginning of more serious allergies for me. Joy! lol! :) (more…)

Illegal Immigrants

Thursday, November 20th, 2003

I know we have a government here in Arizona. Usually, I like what they’re doing. But we have a big issue with illegal immigrants getting jobs that they shouldn’t be allowed to get. And even though it’s against the law to hire them, people still do it and the government isn’t helping. Too many illegal immigrants hanging out on well known “pick up strips”? No problem! We’ll just create a job center for them to sit in. And no one seems to think that this is promoting the problem of illegal immigrants. Even the lovely Tribune is writing about this fiasco that we call enforcement.

Somehow, I thought that with the Wal-mart bust last month, we’d have gotten tougher, not weaker. Sure, terrorists are a problem in this world. I’m all for the police force being used to help curb the threat, but I want the police force to also be there for other things. This is a huge issue for Arizona. By our government’s inaction, we are harming ourselves economically. Sometimes, the bottom line should not be profit. Sometimes, it should be the uplifting of our citizens.
