Weekly Wrapup #75
Describe how much you agree or disagree with the idea that journals and blogs are a way to “save” your life? I’d have to agree. Think of the many books that have been published that were journals and never really intended for public consumption, yet we read them anyway. The Diary of Anne Frank comes to mind off the top of my head. But there are other forms of writing that have a similar effect. Many poets have written poetry for themselves and then later come to have it published even though that was never their original intent. I personally love reading journals, blogs, what have you, because they bring about a certain connection with the writer. Like you’re sharing secrets with each other.
How often you you reference other blog entries you’ve written? How often do you link to those blog entries as documentation of your history? How often do you ping (if your blogging software has that capability) your own entries? Rarely. I’m not one to do that, though I probably should. Many of my entries are sort of connected but at the time that I write them, I often forget to grab the links to other relevant ones. I think it’s just another aspect of my laziness manifesting itself!
How many entries does your blog have? What are the top two topics you most frequently write about? The bottom two? This entry will be the 360th entry that I’ve written. Top two topics I write about seem to be related to feelings/emotions and me. For the bottom two, I guess it would be my terrors and news worthy items. I’ll have to really peruse my entries more for a better answer because I’m not analytical enough to just know off hand!
Have you ever rebooted your blog to erase your previous online life? If so, why? If not, under what circumstances would you ever consider it? I haven’t ever done that, even when I don’t like comments that have been written. I think that it would be a crime to reboot yourself like that. If you aren’t going to be completely honest, then why are you doing this? If you’re writing a journal and feel like you don’t want people to read it, then password protect it. That will keep prying eyes away. I think it’s a better choice than wiping the slate, so to speak.
Share a blog that you best feels “saves” someone’s life? Why did you pick it? Michael’s site really saves his life well. He writes about everything and you can just feel his emotions and reactions. He;s very fluid and intelligent. And open minded! What I love is that he’s honest to a fault and you always know that he’ll just tell you how it is. I enjoy reading his site, even though I don’t comment much on it. I’m almost afraid to comment on it because I know that they won’t be up to par with what he’s writing.
