Friday, October 17th, 2003Describe how much you agree or disagree with the idea that journals and blogs are a way to “save” your life? I’d have to agree. Think of the many books that have been published that were journals and never really intended for public consumption, yet we read them anyway. The Diary of Anne Frank comes to mind off the top of my head. But there are other forms of writing that have a similar effect. Many poets have written poetry for themselves and then later come to have it published even though that was never their original intent. I personally love reading journals, blogs, what have you, because they bring about a certain connection with the writer. Like you’re sharing secrets with each other.
How often you you reference other blog entries you’ve written? How often do you link to those blog entries as documentation of your history? How often do you ping (if your blogging software has that capability) your own entries? Rarely. I’m not one to do that, though I probably should. Many of my entries are sort of connected but at the time that I write them, I often forget to grab the links to other relevant ones. I think it’s just another aspect of my laziness manifesting itself!
