Weekly Wrapup #65

  1. Have you ever taken a break from blogging? Why? I have taken numerous breaks from my website. I have even taken breaks from my online journal, but only because it was easier to write everything down on paper than type it in on the keyboard. But I have almost always maintained a journal in some form.

  2. How long was your break, if at all? If you didn’t take a break, how much time is enough for a break, either as a blogger or as a blogging reader? The most recent break I took was about 4 months. That was probably too long for a break, but I wasn’t really interested and I find that restarting a website requires my interest or I have no fun. I don’t want it to feel like a chore. But really, who is it that designates how much is enough or too long? I think it’s unfair for a reader to get upset when other things in a writer’s life take up more time than the journal. That’s the way life works. Get used to it.

  3. Have you ever dropped someone from your blogroll for taking a break (short or long)? Why or why not? No, I haven’t. Because it’s a break. That means that they come back at some point. If I drop them from my links, I might forget to go check up on them to see if they have returned.

  4. What would prompt you to take a break? Real life or online life? What’s the difference? The last time I took a break to really take time to sort out my life. Lots of major issues were happening and well, keeping a journal online wasn’t on that list of things worth fretting about. Real life always takes precedence over online life. Difference being that there are some things that are solely virtual and while entertaining or fulfilling are not a part of your whole life. It’s like online life is it’s own little world. My journal is a mix of online and real life. The people who visit come from both realms. I like the mixture just the way it is. :)

  5. If you took a blogging break, what was it like when you returned? Alternatively, if you know someone who took a blogging break, were you glad to see him/her blog again? Why? When I got back into my website, it took me a bit to really get my stride in what I wanted to write. I had it before and then kind of lost it while I was gone. And the people I know who have taken time out and then came back were refreshing when they got back. They had different view points and it was wonderful to see them writing again.

Bonus Question: What’s the secret of blogging success? he secret is to have your own success in your mind. Success for each person is going to be different. My success is creating a website where my friends can all get together, goof off, enjoy themselves, and really see what I’m thinking/feeling. This is it. I have success. The proof? Having friends call me on the phone and tell me about something they saw on my site. Something they wanted to thank me for or talk about more. It’s all about connecting. :grin2:
