Blogging

I was emailing with a fellow blogger (although Journal Keeper may be more apt) and the conversation got me thinking about why I keep my journal online. I keep mine for a variety of reasons, but mainly because I have moved so many times that I have friends all over the place and my website is a great way to keep them all up to date. It saves me loads of time with my email! (Does this mean that my website is maintained so that I can be lazy?)

I don’t actively set out to have my site included in search engines, nor do I sit around lamenting on the number of hits or links leading people to my site. I figure if you find your way here, then great! You did it without me tooting my own horn, so to speak. (This could be construed to be more laziness on my part, depending on your perspective.) ;)

Lazy. Tootin’. Horn. And you got two of ‘em!

LOL… I guess I do have two sites, but I more or less consider my photolog to be an extension of my journal. I’d have kept it in the same log, but MT isn’t particularly friendly for that, so I didn’t. (more laziness!)

So not what I was referring to lady.

:speechless: Pray tell, what were you talking about then?

I set out to purposly NOT allowing crawlers to index my site. Unfortunately there are still several unknown out there that don’t comply to standards (such as consulting the robots.txt file), and consequently bits and pieces of my site are getting crawled by them, and they get crawled by other engines. It pisses me off.
