Weekly Wrapup #63

  1. Describe a childhood memory in which you sustained a physical injury. It doesn’t have to be a serious injury, only one that you remember distinctly. What happened? When I was in 6th grade, I was out roller skating (on those old 4 wheel skates, not the inline ones) and I went down this huge hill. I had to have gone down this hill a million times before but this time, I didn’t gauge it properly or something. I went off the curb like I was supposed to and proceeded to lose my balance completely. I tried to stay upright, but it didn’t work and down I went! I ended up scraping up my knees very nicely and gouging a nice chunk of skin out of my right hand. Funny is that it’s on the upper side, not the palm and it’s right near my wrist. Anyway, I still have a scar from it today.
  2. If that particular memory was not about your worst physical injury, what was/is? What made it so bad? My eye was bit by my dog when I was a wee one. It’s considered my worst because it forever changed my eye sight and I have to wear glasses because of it. I’m not a big fan of the entire thing, but I still loved the dog. :)

  3. How well do you handle pain? Have you always had a high/low tolerance? If so, when did it change? I have a low tolerance for pain and I handle it horribly and I’ve always been this way. I’m a wuss, hehe… There are few things that I have learned though, to kind of make me less of a wussy. I try not to complain too loudly and I tend to bear my pain fine enough. I have a belief that if you aren’t going to do anything to help your pain, then you have no right to complain anyway. I just take it one step further and just try not to complain at all.

  4. Do you take external medicines when you are hurt? Why or why not? Do you try/use alternative therapies? Why or why not? I do take external medicines when I can. I have highly sensitive skin though, and that’s not always the best option. And I love alternative therapies! My only problem with them is that they all tend to be expensive. This goes for both external and internal alternatives.

  5. Describe a time when you were hurt and it wasn’t as serious as you thought. How did you feel before and after? One time I had my hand slammed in a truck door. Not the fingers, but the hand. It just started pounding and swelling and everyone pretty much felt that it might have been broken. So off to the ER I went and it turned out to only be a very nice bruise to the bones. I was kind of angry afterwards for something so simple being so painful and for having to waste all that time in ER over it.
