Weekly Wrapup #58
- What kind of training have you had? (Include credit and non-credit if it’s relevant)? How valuable were those training experience(s)? I’ve gone through high school and some college. Mainly credit courses, but sometimes I find that the best training I receive is from volunteering. The best part about formal training is that there is an open arena for discussions and you don’t really get that in every area of life. So when you go into learning about things like Sociology, you don’t expect everyone to agree with you where as in certain situations in informal training, you’re kind of stuck with what you get.
Do you prefer hands-on or formal training or self-taught training opportunities? Why? My preference depends on what I am learning. There are times for each kind of training. I believe that mostly my preference is a combo of self-taught and hands-on, though. I really learn better by doing, and I love to go at my own pace. I definitely push myself, so even if it’s beyond the scope of a class schedule, I’ll still start looking into it. Sometimes you find there are places where you have an issue with something and it’s difficult to learn. In those cases, being on someone else’s schedule can make it even harder to learn.
What kind of training would you like to obtain? Why? In all honesty, I find that I work well at a desk and running an office environment. So I’d really like to get more training in that area so that I can become an office manager. There’s a lot of formal training involved in that, though, which means that I’d definitely be giving way some of my preferences and learning a lot by the book.
If you could train someone in any area, subject, or field, what would it be and why? I would train someone in the art of appreciating the little things in life. Too often people in this world just don’t take it seriously enough. We forget to relax and enjoy everything that we spend our entire lives working so hard for. Why do we go through all the effort if we aren’t going to enjoy the benefits? If everyone was trained in relaxing and enjoying the little things, I think that we’d all be a lot better off.
What training opportunity would you be willing to pay for? What training opportunity would you be willing to give for free? Why did you pick these? There is so much knowledge that I’d pay for. I mean, I’d love to just take course after course at the university level. I guess that I’d enjoy being a perpetual student. I really love school, as sick as that sounds. And I’d give training in the right way to tutor and encourage children for free because it’s definitely needed and the rewards would go way beyond money.
