Waxing Philosophical

So, I was talking to one of my friends the other day and we started waxing philosophical about life. :) We agreed that it’s funny how we can pretend to control our future but there are always variables that we can’t possibly take into account. So you find yourself in a place you never thought you’d find yourself. I suppose that’s why so many believe that we should live in the present and not try to control the future so much.

I’m not suggesting that we ignore the future & make plans as if today was the last day of life. Actually, my thinking is more along the lines of not trying to make the future conform perfectly to our misguided perceptions of what it should be. Maybe we all need to loosen up a little and be willing to take some chances to see where those chances take us.

The best laid plans… :|

I don’t think it’s the chance that takes us to the feature but rather, it’s the choices we make on which path to take. And we can control are future to some degree by making right choices for ourselves.

Entirely true. I was meaning that we can’t control every single detail. Hence mentioning the variables beyond our control. Choices and chances are very similar. It just depends on who you’re speaking with. ;)

Well, to me, chances are more like luck, which we have absolutely no control over. On the other hand, we do have some control over the choices we make.
